Girls Basketball makes history with school's first tournament title at the Hudson River Classic

JERSEY CITY, NJ – The M.E.T.S. Girls Basketball team defeated Brearley of Kenilworth, 47-37, in the final of the Hudson River Classic.  The Lady Mustangs faced Brearly for the title on Friday, Dec. 29. The Brearly team stood undefeated at 3-0 overall and 2-0 in the Union County Conference Sky Division until they fell to the surging Mustangs.  M.E.T.S. was behind after three quarters, 27-24, before breaking out with a 23-10 fourth quarter to take home the win.

Brianna Lee, a junior from the M.E.T.S. Jersey City campus, scored 21 points and grabbed 11 rebounds in the championship game.  Brianna Lee's efforts earned her the tournament MVP honors. Kamrin Babbs, a freshman from the M.E.T.S. Newark campus, added 23 points and 4 steals for the Lady Mustangs.  The M.E.T.S. Girls Basketball teamhad defeated the host, McNair Acedemic, in the first round, 49-37, as Lee had 23 points, nine rebounds and four steals and Babbs had 13 points.
