Before winter break, the Class of 2020 students from Jersey City met with representatives from the Jersey City Mayor's Office in regards to the Jersey City Youth Works Program. This program is a paid internship that takes place over the course of 6 weeks in the summer. Students are being encouraged to apply for this program which requires a resume, transcripts, interview, three essays, and a letter of recommendation. It is open to Class of 2020 residents of Jersey City and provides students with the opportunity to work at prestigious companies such as:
Hudson County Chamber of Commerce
Hyatt Regency Jersey City
Investors Bank
Jersey City Medical Center
JPMorgan Chase & Co.
Liberty Science Center
The above are just a few companies who have partnered with the program, and there are many more. So far, we have had about 35 students from M.E.T.S. who have submitted the initial paperwork to begin the application process. We'd like to see more apply. The program is highly competitive, so get your application in today!
Ms. Zamora and Ms. Casella are sponsoring this activity, and will be holding a resume workshop after school in an effort to guide students in the essay writing process. Dates of this activity will be announced soon.
