Superintendent's Message

Dear M.E.T.S. Families,

Welcome to the 2017-18 school year. As the activities from summer wrap up and school gets started I am reminded how fortunate we are to live in such a wonderful community where we can enjoy such vibrant culture.

Staff has been gearing up, getting classrooms ready, working on curriculum and lessons, planning for the first month, preparing for beginning of the year activities and taking care of all the details that are necessary to get schools ready for kids. We are excited for a year of learning and growing. As we get started this year it is important to refresh our memory about why we teach and what our goals are for each student who enters our schools.

Part of our mission statement is that M.E.T.S. is “committed to providing a high quality education focused on college and career readiness.”  This means that when our seniors walk across the stage to receive their diploma, they will have a plan for their next steps after high school and they will have the skills and abilities to act on that plan. We will accomplish this by realizing our vision which states that we will “prepare students to excel in college and other postsecondary education programs.”

Writing a mission statement and communicating a vision does not make it so. There is another element to schools that is critical to the learning process and it is the quality of relationships that students have with teachers and staff. We know that students excel when they feel known and valued by teachers. Caring for each child is an essential part of school success and it is our goal to make sure each young person who enters our classroom feels connected to school and is valued for their contributions.

We are excited for school to begin and to welcome students and families to a great year together. We appreciate your partnership. Thank you for your continued support of M.E.T.S. Charter School.

Sincerely,
Ian Fallstich
