Mr. Damion Frye

A veteran school administrator and educator, Damion Frye brings more than 22 years of educational experience to his role as Interim Lead Administrator/Principal of M.E.T.S. Charter School. Before joining the M.E.T.S. team, Damion Frye spent two years as Principal of Seth Boyden Demonstration School. There he increased the school's success of the PARCC examinations, created an elective program for 4th and 5th graders, and oversaw the school's new outdoor learning center. Prior to being principal of Seth Boyden, he spent three years as a special assistant to the assistant superintendent of Newark Public Schools, a role in which he led the design of school-based professional development programs and implementation of a district-wide math curriculum.

A member of professional organizations such as the International Reading Association and New Jersey Principals and Supervisors Association, Damion Frye previously worked for two years as director of mathematics with District 79 New York City and held English and math teaching roles with The Equity Project Charter School, Montclair High School, North Star Academy Charter School of Newark, and Benjamin Banneker Charter School, among others. He also served as an adjunct professor of New York University and Montclair State University.

Mr. Frye holds a master's degree in teaching from Brown University and a bachelor's degree in African American studies from Bates College, where he was a four-year varsity football player and president of the school's Black Student Union.
