Designing With Data

Chemical Engineering

Students determine the required conditions to brew a “light brew” cup of coffee with conductivity of 300µS.  Measuring conductivity of whole bean and ground coffee samples for 15 minutes after start of brewing.

Civil Engineering

Teams build and test their design and analyze data to quantify the safety of the building model to determine the cost-to-performance ratio of the proposed solution.

Hospital Delivery Vehicle - Mechatronics Engineering

Students are required to build, program, and test their vehicle using appropriate experimentation techniques; and acquire, analyze, and represent data in order to effectively design and implement their system components.

METS High School Students Start TEOP & CSEOP Program (Spring Semester)

Location: Fairleigh Dickinson University, Teaneck NJ

Technical Enrichment and Outreach Program (TEOP)

The program promotes computer science, engineering, mathematics and engineering technology to public high schools with large populations of under-represented minority and/or financially disadvantaged students. It brings upper-level high school students to the School of Computer Science and Engineering at the Metropolitan Campus for 10 Saturdays per semester for technical instruction and hands-on laboratory work under the direction of University faculty, staff and graduate students.

Computing and Security Enrichment Outreach Program (CSEOP)

CSEOP will introduce cybersecurity to aspiring college bound students over a ten week long program. CSEOP will emphasize five major area concentrations of particular relevance and interest for budding cybersecurity technologists:  Inside Computers and Networking, Criminal Justice and Cyber Crime, Programming using Alice (Java), Image Processing and Steganography, Cryptography and Cybersecurity. The Program is expected to engage and cultivate student interests in this emerging and important discipline of information technology.

Middle School Basketball Completes the Season

The middle school girls and boys basketball teams completed their season this week. In the inaugural season both teams saw a lot of improvement with the boys pulling off a victory over North Star Academy West Side Park in the last game of the season. When asked about the season, Coach B said, "The boys did great this year. I am extremely proud of them and their effort in all games. They played with heart at all times, and I salute them for their passion for the game." Ms. Green concluded, "While this was the first time that many of the girls had played organized basketball, they came to the gym ready to work every day. The desire to try something new, and drive to get better each day made the season a success. Even though we did not produce any wins on the season, our girls focused on the process and finding ways to grow as a team, and that is all that I can ask for. I am extremely proud of them for their accomplishments this season. We look forward to seeing what the future holds with these young athletes.
